"I will do everything in my power to stop the escalation of violence between Lebanon and Israel."
This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, reported AFP.
"Paris that it will continue to act for the stability of Lebanon to protect it from the escalating tensions in the Middle East," Macron added.
Macron raised the issue of France's participation in the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, on Israel's northern border, and stressed everyone's responsibility towards it.
The French leader also discussed the ongoing political crisis in Lebanon. The Mikati government has only limited powers.
Lebanese lawmakers have failed to appoint a successor to former president Michel Aoun since October 2022, as parliament remains deadlocked between Hezbollah and its opponents./BGNES
