Macron: France guarantees that Russia will not win this war

French President Emmanuel Macron said his country is ready to ensure that Russia does not win the war in Ukraine, warning its allies not to impose aid restrictions.

"If the situation deteriorates, we are ready to guarantee that Russia will never win this war," Macron said on French television, warning that anyone advocating "limits" on aid to Ukraine was "choosing defeat."

"If Russia wins this war, credibility in Europe will be reduced to zero," Macron said in an interview with French broadcasters TF1 and France Television.

He said that after the Russian invasion in February 2022, there were "too many limitations" in our vocabulary.

"Two years ago we said we would never send tanks. We did. Two years ago we said we would never send medium-range missiles. We did," he said.

"Those who say 'let's not support Ukraine' are not making a choice for peace, they are making a choice for defeat," he added.

For France, "all options" are on the table in its support for Ukraine, Macron said.

"If the situation deteriorates, we will be ready to prevent a Russian victory," but he also said his country "will never go on the offensive" in the war.

"We will never take the initiative," he said.

This week, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin's victory would be a "catastrophe" for the purchasing power of French households because food and energy prices would rise. / BGNES
