Lupita Nyong'o is the latest star to join Christopher Nolan's new feature film project, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress, who was last seen starring in last summer's alien invasion thriller " A Quiet Place," joins a solid call-up list that already includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.
Nolan wrote the script and directed the project, which Universal Pictures will distribute. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.
Nolan's latest film has even fewer plot details than usual for the extremely secretive director. While various speculations about the plot have surfaced - from a vampire movie to a helicopter action flick - insiders say that no conjecture comes close to the truth.
The director produced alongside his partner and wife Emma Thomas for their Syncopy banner. Filming is planned to be in the first half of 2025.
The new film reunites Nolan with the studio that made his drama " Oppenheimer" and shot him to his first Oscars. He won best director and received a best picture statuette as producer of the film, which earned a staggering $976 million worldwide.
Although Nolan likes to work with a certain set of actors, Nyong'o will be new to his team. However, the actress is not new to Universal. She voices " The Wild Robot ," the adaptation of Peter Brown's book made by Universal arm DreamWorks Animation, which has proved more than a hit at the box office, grossing nearly $300 million since its September release. The actress also stars in the studio's horror film directed by Jordan Peele, "Us."
Nyong'o won an Oscar for her performance in Steve McQueen's " 12 Years a Slave " and starred in " Black Panther " and its sequel " Wakanda Forever ". | BGNES
