Lufthansa to create 10,000 jobs in 2025

German aviation group Lufthansa plans to create 10,000 jobs in 2025. The announcement came as global air traffic continues to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company said it will seek 800 pilots and 2,000 flight attendants, and additional hires will include technical experts, ground operations staff and administrative positions.

The group cut more than 30,000 jobs during the pandemic and has since been recruiting to restore capacity, AFP reported.

Around 1,200 people will be employed at its eponymous company, Lufthansa Airlines. It also operates Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines.

However, the new hires are fewer than last year as the company's business unit continues to implement an efficiency programme launched last July.

Across the group, 13,000 workers were hired last year, said board member Michael Nigeman.

According to a study by the German Economic Institute (IW), a think tank, the aerospace industry is one of the few sectors in Germany likely to increase hiring this year.

The Lufthansa Group, which also owns maintenance and repair firm Lufthansa Technik, has more than 100,000 employees in over 90 countries. | BGNES
