Lucasfilm sues Star Wash for plagiarism

In a galaxy not so far away, Star Wash, a Chilean car wash on the outskirts of Santiago, finds itself embroiled in a legal battle with Lucasfilm over alleged use of the "Star Wars" franchise, GFR reported.

Using social media, Star Wash has recently gained international attention thanks to its interesting marketing strategy of hiring workers dressed as favorite "Star Wars" characters such as Chewbacca and Darth Vader to clean the cars. The visually striking approach gained considerable traction on social media platforms, eventually drawing the ire of Lucasfilm.

Lucasfilm claims that Star Wash plagiarizes the brand that the production company has been building for the past 46 years. In response, Matias Jara, owner of the car wash company, worked diligently to register his trademark with the Chilean patent office to separate it from the American production company. However, it prompted Lucasfilm to file a lawsuit alleging that the car wash's name could mislead consumers into thinking it was related to the "Star Wars" franchise. /BGNES
