US Secretary of War Lloyd Austin will undergo a bloodless medical procedure related to a bladder problem. Austin will have to hand over duties temporarily, Yahoo News reported.
The minister has determined he will not be able to carry out his duties during the minimally invasive procedure and Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks will take over.
The Pentagon said the bladder problem was unrelated to the secretary's prostate cancer diagnosis.
In February, Austin was hospitalized to deal with a bladder problem. The hospitalization came after he underwent surgery to treat prostate cancer in December.
The minister sparked a political scandal after he failed to report his surgery to the White House, as well as his subsequent hospitalization in January to deal with complications from it. Even President Joe Biden didn't know Austin was in the hospital a few days later./BGNES
