Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool beat Newcastle United to move the Merseysiders three points clear at the top of the table ahead of second-placed Aston Villa. In a goal show at Anfield, which ended 4-2, Liverpool dominated throughout the game and fired numerous shots at Martin Dubravka's goal.
In the first half, the Magpies' keeper managed to save several excellent chances for Jurgen Klopp's men, including a Salah penalty. The good performances of the guard continued in the second half, but the pressure of the hosts was unstoppable and resulted in 4 hits in the Newcastle goal.
Salah's first goal was his 150th Premier League goal for the Reds, but five minutes later Alexander Isak, who slipped in behind the home defense, restored parity. Liverpool pressed to take the lead again and eventually Curtis Jones gave them the lead again and then Cody Gapko headed home after a brilliant pass from Salah.
Newcastle got back into the game when Sven Botman headed in a cross from a corner to make it 3-2. Salah shaped the final score after being gifted another chance to beat Dubravka from the spot for a penalty kick. Liverpool have won their first seven Premier League games at Anfield this season but have drawn their previous two home games at Manchester United and Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp's side are 3 points ahead of Aston Villa and 5 points ahead of champions Manchester City, with the Citizens having a game in hand. Newcastle remains ninth. /BGNES
