For the first time in NBA history, father and son will play side by side on the same team. This became a fact after Los Angeles Lakers selected with the 55th pick in the draft Brony James, son of the legendary LeBron James, who will enter his 21st season in the League in the fall.
"Next season with the Lakers, history will be rewritten," franchise general manager Rob Pelinka said after the draft. In July of last year, the 19-year-old Broney suffered a cardiac arrest during practice with his college team in California, but has since made a full recovery and entered the draft, where he impressed scouts with his physicality and vision, though his shooting still is impermanent.
Broney will most likely start the next campaign in the G League until he is ready for the extremely high level of the NBA, but he will undoubtedly share the court with his father at some point during the season. "He has a strong character, he works very hard, he has the qualities we look for when we draft players," added Pelinka. | BGNES
