Lara Gut-Behrami won the giant slalom in Kronplatz, Italy, another start in the women's Alpine World Cup season.
The Swiss made a strong first run, and in the second run she was three hundredths behind the fastest in it, Sofia Goggia from Italy, which sealed her first place by more than a second ahead of Alice Robinson (New Zealand) and Sara Hector (Sweden), who shared the second position.
Ragnhild Mowinckel (Norway), Goggia and Federica Brignone (Italy), Zrinka Ljutic (Croatia), Camille Rast (Switzerland), Julia Scheib (Austria) and the representative of the hosts Marta Bassino were also in the top 10. Three female skiers did not finish the second run and Luisa Bertani, competing for Bulgaria, did not make it into the top 30 after the first run.
Gut-Behrami continues to gain momentum after two days ago she also triumphed in the super-giant slalom in Cortina d'Ampezzo. In the fight for the Small Crystal Globe in the discipline, the Swiss leads with 85 points ahead of Brignone, who is in second place. Hector has 452 points and is 133 behind first place. In the Overall, Mikaela Shiffrin remains the leader, but her lead over Gut-Behrami has been reduced to 95 points. Shiffrin is currently recovering from a heavy fall during the first downhill in Cortina on January 26 and it is not yet clear when she will return to the track.
This weekend's starts in Garmisch-Partenkirchen were canceled due to high temperatures, so the women return for the races in Soldeu, Andorra, on February 10 and 11, when the giant slalom and slalom will be held respectively. /BGNES
