Ukraine received a tranche in the amount of 1.9 billion euros from the EU's Ukraine Support Mechanism, announced Prime Minister Denis Shmigal, Ukrinform reported.
The facility will provide a total of 33 billion euros over 4 years in the form of loans and 17 billion euros in grants, provided that the Ukrainian government carries out certain reforms.
Total budget support for Ukraine from the EU so far in 2024 "has reached almost 8 billion euros", Schmihal said, adding that "more is to come".
The bloc approved the Ukraine Instrument in February, and the EU Council endorsed the framework agreement in mid-May, which sets out the Ukrainian government's tasks for recovery, reconstruction and modernization.
In March, Shmigal said the reforms would cover "public administration, the fight against corruption, as well as economic and sectoral reforms in various spheres: from energy to agriculture." | BGNES
