Krejcikova vs. Paolini is the Wimbledon women's final

Barbora Krejcikova is the second Wimbledon finalist. The Czech shocked big title favorite Elena Rybakina 3-6 6-4 6-4 in 2 hours and 9 minutes and will be fighting for her first career grass title, facing Jasmine Paolini.

The match began in a whirlwind for Rybakina, who realized two consecutive breaks and accumulated a comfortable lead of 4-0. The Kazakhstan international had two straight set points at 5-2, but on both occasions she committed unforced errors and the 2021 Roland Garros champion won her serve. However, the fourth seed did not miss her second opportunity to serve for the set and won 6-3.

In the second set, Krejcikova significantly improved her game defensively, and her backhand attacks from inside the court caused more and more serious problems for Rybakina. This helped the Czech to break and take a 5-2 lead. Rybakina reduced her deficit, then saved five set points, but the world No. 32 still won her serve and closed out the set at 6-3.

The final set followed an identical scenario. Krejcikova continued to be very solid in defense and made the most of her opponent's mistakes. A break and this time proved to be enough for the Czech who prevailed 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 after just over 2 hours of play. | BGNES
