King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer and will postpone public duties to receive treatment, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The king was diagnosed with cancer after being treated for a benign prostate enlargement. Doctors noticed a separate problem and undertook research.
He will now receive regular treatment in a London hospital.
He is said to be "entirely positive about his treatment" and "looks forward to returning to full social activity as soon as possible".
The news was announced by Buckingham Palace after the Prime Minister was briefed and the King had a chance to break the news to Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
He will continue to carry out state duties, including his audiences with the Prime Minister, Privy Council meetings and red boxes.
