Keanu Reeves made his debut as a professional car racer in Indianapolis

Hollywood star Keanu Reeves made his professional auto racing debut as the Matrix star took a spin at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Reeves spun into the grass without a collision at the exit of turn nine just over halfway through the 45-minute race. He returned and continued driving, signaling that he was uninjured.

Reeves, who qualified 31st out of 35 cars, worked his way up to 21st and successfully avoided the first lap crash at Turn 14. Reeves finished 25th.

Reeves, who is 60, is competing in Indianapolis in the Toyota GR Cup, Toyota's specialty racing series and support series for this weekend's Indy 8 Hour sports car race. He has a second race on October 6.

Reeves drives the No. 92 BRZRKR to promote his graphic novel The Book of Elsewhere. He is the teammate of Cody Jones from Dude Perfect.

Reeves has previous racing experience as a former Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach entrant in the celebrity race. Reeves won the race in 2009.

On Tuesday in Los Angeles, he is scheduled to attend a 30th-anniversary screening of the movie "Speed" with his co-star Sandra Bullock. | BGNES
