Juventus won 3-0 away to Lecce from the 21st round of Serie A and at least temporarily stepped into first place in the standings. The team from Torino is one point ahead of Inter, who, however, have a game less due to their participation in the Italian Super Cup tournament in Saudi Arabia.
The Bianconeri were without Federico Chiesa, Adrien Rabiot, Moise Kean, and Mattia De Sciglio, but McKenney and Federico Gatti returned from suspension. The hosts were Bed Lamek Banda, Hamza Rafia, Ahmed Touba, and Castrio Dermaku.
The first scoring opportunity for Juventus came in the 11th minute. Weston McKenney then headed in a corner kick but missed. In general, in the first half, there weren't that many scoring chances, with both teams managing to make one accurate shot each.
In the 47th minute, Pontus Almqvist fell in the penalty area of Juventus, but the referee did not award a penalty to the hosts. In the 59th minute, Juve took the lead. Dusan Vlahovic received a cross in the penalty area and headed the ball into the upper left corner for 0:1.
After another 10 minutes of play, the score became 0:2. Kostic headed McKenney from a small angle, and just before the ball entered the goal, Vlahovic got to it and registered the goal to his name. Gleason Bremer added a third goal late in the game, towering over his opponents and heading in a cross from a Samuel Ayling Jr. free kick. Szczesny kept a clean sheet with a great one-handed save from Nicola Sansone deep late in the game. /BGNES
