Judi Dench and John Cena to voice Meta's chatbot

Instagram owner Meta has announced that Judi Dench and John Cena will be the voice options for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot.

Users will also be able to get information from versions of Aquafina, Keegan Michael Key or Kristen Bell, the BBC reported.

The tech giant's CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement during the company's annual Connect conference.

At the event, Zuckerberg also unveiled the first working prototype of Meta's augmented reality (AR) glasses called Orion.

Speaking about Meta's AI updates, Zuckerberg said, "I think voice is going to be a much more natural way to interact with AI compared to messaging."

Other new options for the ChatGPT-like chatbot include its ability to recognize things users photograph and give them information about them.

An image editing feature will allow users to change photos by simply telling Meta's AI what changes they want.

The firm claims that more than 400 million people a month now use Meta's AI, and 185 million return to it every week.

Showing off the Orion glasses, Zuckerberg said "a lot of people have said this is the most insane technology they've ever seen."

Users will be able to interact with the glasses through hand tracking, voice and a wrist-based interface.

Meta also announced an initial release of the Quest line of mixed reality headsets, with prices for the new Quest 3S starting at $300.

Some of the world's biggest tech firms are developing augmented reality glasses, but haven't commercially launched mass-market devices yet.

In recent years, Meta has invested billions of dollars in the development of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and other metaverse technologies.

The company expects to spend up to $40 billion on new projects this year, a record amount.

Ahead of the event, Meta shares ended the trading day on Sept. 25 at a record high of $568.31.

Since the beginning of this year, the market value of the stock of the company, which also owns social media platforms Facebook and WhatsApp, has increased by more than 60%. | BGNES
