Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has told that is more than likely boxing fans to get one of the most memorable nights in the history of the sport with two supermatches on the same night. The british boxer has said there are talks for a bout with other former champion – Deontay Wilder, before the main event between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk which will decide the first absolute champion in the heavyweight division in 20 years.
„They want to organize Usyk – Fury and Joshua – Wilder on the same night, but that is unlikely to happen before April. They told us they want to organize a mega night. After Fury’s match with Ngannou at the end of this month, he can’t fight with Usyk in December, it’s too soon. So next option is in March or April“, said Joshua. The Britain lost two consecutive matches against Usyk, while Wilder had the same faith against Fury.
However, this does not correspond to what was said by one of Fury’s representatives – Spencer Brown, who stated that the match with Usyk will be on December 23. There is currently no official date for the long-awaited clash.
At the same time, Joshua stated that he definitely intends to fight in December because he wants to be active. „We need to find the right opponent. Now I’m changing coaches and following the process. I’m trying not to pay attention to the hype surrounding the Wilder match“, explained AJ.
