Jamie Lee Curtis was inspired by Disney as a child

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, was one of many names honored with the title of "Disney Legend" at D23 on August 11.

She gave a speech that in parts reflected her memories of growing up with the music of House of Mouse, quoting her favorite song.

"'Carousel of Progress' blew my mind when I was a little kid. Today we look at the cartoon stuff and it's kind of hard, but the song gets stuck in your head," Curtis told Entertainment Tonight.

The Oscar-winning star built her name in the horror genre before starring in dramas like My Girl in the 1990s. He then starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in Disney's 2003 remake of Friday Nightmare and will star in its sequel next year.

The Queens of Horror actress was inducted into the Disney Hall of Fame by her on-screen daughter Lindsay Lohan, 38, and fellow Academy Award winner Jodie Foster, who starred alongside Barbara Harris in the 1987 version of the comedy.

“The magic of Jamie Lee Curtis is timeless. I am blessed to have her as a friend in my life and lucky to work with a woman I love so much,” Lohan said.

Among the other 13 inductees into the Disney Hall of Fame were Marvel star Angela Bassett, Harrison Ford and The Simpsons creator James L. Brooks.

Miley Cyrus became the youngest recipient of the award at the age of 31. She teared up at the thought of her years on the Disney sitcom Hannah Montana. | BGNES
