Ja Morant made a stellar return to the NBA

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant made a memorable return to action after a 25-game suspension, scoring 34 points and a buzzer-beating basket in a 115-113 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Morant had not played in eight months after receiving severe punishment for posting a video of a firearm on social media, and in his absence, the team recorded 6 wins and 19 losses on the season.

The 24-year-old guard showed off his skills in New Orleans tonight, breaking the record for most points after a 25-game absence in NBA history. Morant finished with 34 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block on 50 percent shooting. Jaron Jackson added 24 points for the success of the Grizzlies, and Desmond Baynes had 21. For the Pelicans, who led by 24 points shortly before the end of the second half, Brandon Ingram led the way with 34 points, Jonas Valanciunas had 22 points and 14 struggles, but star Zion Williamson scored just 13 points.

"I've been working hard, I haven't played in eight months and I've had a lot of time to get to know myself. There were hard days I went through. But basketball is my life, I love it, it's therapeutic for me. I'm glad to be back on court," said Morant after the match.

In San Francisco, the Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics 132-126 in overtime, thanks to great performances by Steph Curry in the final quarter and the extra five minutes. Curry scored 33 points and Klay Thompson added 24, both hitting six 3-pointers.
