Vice President-elect J.D. Vance said people who "committed violence" on January 6, 2021, "obviously" should not be pardoned by President-elect Trump.
Vance stressed that the issue of pardons is "very simple," saying that those who "protested peacefully" should be pardoned, and "if you committed violence on that day, obviously you should not be pardoned." He later clarified that some cases are in the "grey area".
Vance also said that he and Trump are committed to equal application of the law. They both believe there have been people who have been "prosecuted unfairly" and that "needs to be corrected."
Trump has long promised to pardon those who stormed the Capitol while Congress was certifying President Biden's victory in the 2020 election. His plans, however, are not finding support in Congress. | BGNES
