"Approximately 100 Air Force fighter jets struck and destroyed thousands of barrels of Hezbollah rockets that were deployed and embedded in South Lebanon. Most of these launchers were aimed at northern Israel and some were aimed at central Israel," the military said.
"In turn, Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets and drones into northern Israel, most of them after Israel launched its attack. The Hezbollah shelling was part of a larger attack that was planned and we were able to thwart most of it this morning," Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani told reporters.
He declined to specify what Hezbollah was targeting.
"We are still assessing the situation after the attack, there is still some fire. But I can tell you there was little damage. Very minor damage," Shoshani added.
He said Israel's partners, including the United States, were not involved in the attack on Hezbollah.
"It was an Israeli operation this morning," he said. | BGNES
