The world is expecting a massive Israeli strike against Iran, including against nuclear sites, in the coming hours.
Israel plans to hit Terekhan sites on October 7, the anniversary of the Hamas attack, the Washington Post reported.
Israel will not heed the advice of US President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump, experts have warned.
Earlier this week, Iran fired dozens of ballistic missiles at Israeli targets and caused damage, including at Israeli air bases, although the IDF denied any aircraft or critical infrastructure had been hit.
The IDF promised that the response would be "serious and significant."
A high-ranking official of the US State Department emphasized that Israel does not give guarantees to Washington that "it will not attack Iranian nuclear sites".
"The Israelis will not be limited by what the president and the former president have to say," Stephen Cook, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, told CNN.
“They will target those facilities and weapons in Iran that are most dangerous to Israel. The real question is how far the Israelis will go in escalating and whether the Iranians will feel compelled to respond (again),” Cook added.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was facing a war on seven fronts. He called the seven - which include Hezbollah and its backer Iran - "enemies of civilization".
Meanwhile, the Lebanese capital Beirut was subjected to heavy Israeli airstrikes overnight.
