The Israeli military (IDF) reported that its air force struck thousands of rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, AFP reported.
According to the IDF, the facilities posed an "imminent" threat due to increased fears of sparking a war with the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
"Israeli aircraft struck thousands of launchers that were ready for immediate use to launch into Israeli territory, as well as approximately 180 other, unspecified targets," the Israeli military said.
Earlier on September 21, the IDF said it was launching new strikes on Lebanon, after a day earlier Israeli missile strikes on the capital Beirut killed 31 people, including top Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Akil.
In response to the announcement of new Israeli strikes, Hezbollah said it had fired "a volley of Katyusha rockets" at two Israeli barracks in northern Israel.
The IDF said Hezbollah fighters fired about 90 rockets. | BGNES
