Iran: Hezbollah behind strike on Netanyahu's residence

drone from Lebanon has hit the prime minister's family house.

Iran's mission to the United Nations said the Lebanese group Hezbollah, armed and funded by Tehran, was behind the drone attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu' s residence.

"This action was taken by the Lebanese Hezbollah," the mission said in response to a question about Iran's role in the attack, IRNA news agency reported.

Earlier, Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of trying to kill him. A drone strike from Lebanon hit the prime minister's family house.

The Tehran-backed terror group, which is fighting Israel in southern Lebanon, has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

"The attempt by the Iranian puppet Hezbollah to kill me and my wife today was a serious mistake," Netanyahu said.

Addressing "Iran and its proxies," Netanyahu vowed that "anyone who tries to harm the citizens of Israel will pay a heavy price."

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagei slammed Israel for "spreading lies" as an "ongoing and constant practice of this regime and its criminal leaders" in connection with the accusations against Iran.

Armed groups linked to Iran, known as the "axis of resistance," which includes Hezbollah, have been embroiled in the war between Israel and Hamas that has raged in Gaza since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

During the war, Tehran also carried out two direct attacks against its sworn enemy Israel, the latest of which was a barrage of 200 rockets on October 1. | BGNES
