Ravindran Nair, 59, went to the hospital where his wife worked for a check-up because of back problems after a fall, the BBC reports.
Normally, the man used the service elevator with his wife, but this time he took the shared elevator, which, however, got stuck between the first and second floors. The light in the car went out, Nair started pressing the button to communicate with the dispatcher, but no one answered. He then began calling the number listed on the elevator, then tried to reach his wife, but it was no use: there was no connection in the elevator shaft.
Nair panicked and started screaming and hitting the doors with his fists, but no one heard him. Trying to open the doors with his hands resulted in nothing. At some point, the man dropped the phone on the floor and it shut off. Soon Nair no longer understood how much time had passed. He slept in one corner of the cabin and used the other as a toilet.
A technician found and released him almost two days later. The man spent two nights without food, water or light. Nair was examined by doctors and diagnosed with dehydration and back problems. The hospital apologized to the victim. I BGNES
