The UN nuclear agency has officially said that the fire at the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye, southern Ukraine, does not appear to pose a threat to nuclear safety.
"IAEA experts observed heavy dark smoke coming from the northern zone of the NPT after the numerous explosions heard in the evening," the agency said in X.
"The team was notified by the NPT of a suspected drone attack today against one of the cooling towers located at the site," the International Atomic Energy Agency statement added.
"No impact on nuclear safety has been reported".
Both Russia and Ukraine reported the fire there earlier on Sunday, with each blaming the other for the incident. | BGNES
