"Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer was among 30 protesters detained by police for participating in a pro-Palestinian chant ahead of President Joe Biden's appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" in New York City on Feb. 26, Variety reported.
When asked about Shaffer's involvement, an NYPD spokesman said "a total of 30 people were taken into custody" after a "demonstration at 30 Rockefeller Square." These 30 people were also issued summonses for illegal entry of foreign property.
The 25-year-old actress protested together with the Jewish Voice for Peace organization. Shaffer was photographed wearing a T-shirt that read "Cease Fire Now" as she was led away by the New York police, a reference to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
In an Instagram post featuring Shaffer, Jewish Voice for Peace stated the mission of Monday's protest. "Biden's Deadly Foreign Policy Funds and Fuels Gaza Genocide. 50 Protesters Arrested by NYPD and Secret Service," reads the post.
"The president needs to start listening to the American people — not the far-right Israeli government that is indiscriminately bombing the population of Gaza, destroying 70 percent of the infrastructure, including hospitals, universities, and the electricity and water networks," it added. /BGNES
