Hungary presented to the EU a plan to end the war in Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán presented a proposal for achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine to the EU leaders, the "Kyiv Independent" reported.
Hungarian government spokesman Balazs Orbán said Hungary's plan "is based on a realistic assessment of the situation, realistic goals and a realistic timetable."
Shortly after Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU, Orbán left for the so-called from him a "peace mission" in Kiev, Moscow and Beijing. The Prime Minister concluded his tour with a meeting with Donald Trump.
Orbán's visit to Moscow, and specifically his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, sparked outrage across the EU. Brussels stressed that the venture in no way represents the bloc.
Balazs Orbán said the six months of Hungary's presidency should be used to "create conditions for peace".
The speaker hinted that it is worth bringing in other actors on the international scene to work towards achieving peace, without naming specific countries. The government official praised Trump as a man committed to peace, while criticizing the current EU and US leadership as "pro-military".
"Viktor Orbán's plan is already on the desk of every EU prime minister. Our approach is based on a realistic assessment of the situation, realistic goals and an appropriate schedule," Balazs Orban added. | BGNES
