Hundreds of daredevils "saved" the cross in the icy waters

On January 6, water services were celebrated throughout the country for the most revered winter holiday, the Epiphany. Boys and men from all over Bulgaria took part in the ritual of pulling the Holy Cross out of the icy waters of rivers, dams and pools, because whoever pulls it out is blessed and healthy throughout the year, BGNES correspondents reported.

If the cross thrown into the water freezes, it portends health and great prosperity. If the weather is cold and dry, it is taken as a sign of a fertile and good year./BGNES
