After taking over as president of the institution in July, Claudine Gay was criticized for how she handled antisemitic inquiries at a congressional session.

The governing board of Harvard University declared on Tuesday that Claudine Gay would remain president despite the outcry over her vague responses to questions on antisemitism on campus at a congressional hearing.

Dr. Gay is the first Black president of Harvard University, and the board members, who make up the Harvard Corporation, spent Monday night debating whether or not to remove her from her position.

Later on, the statement admits that Dr. Gay was wrong about several things, such as how she first responded to the Oct. 7 assault on Israel by Hamas. The statement said that the University's original response should have been a swift, clear, and resolute denunciation of Hamas's terrible terrorist act, as it has caused immense harm and suffering to many people./BGNES
