Harris will ask supporters to accept US election results

Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris will ask supporters across the country to accept the results of the presidential election during an afternoon speech at Howard University. Her address is intended to touch on themes similar to those of the final days of her campaign. She will also urge the country to work together to find areas of "common ground," CNN reported.

Harris has attempted to contact President-elect Donald Trump but has not yet been able to speak with him today. She intends to speak with him before her address at 4 p.m. local time.

The vice president is preparing her speech at the Naval Observatory along with her chief speechwriter Adam Frankel and other advisers. Remarks are still being prepared, but she is expected to thank her supporters and offer a message aimed at younger voters, whom she often addressed during the campaign.

The Harris campaign invited supporters to return to the Howard University quad, where a night of dancing and joy gradually turned to disappointment for thousands of followers when the election results came in. Many stayed well past midnight, but began to leave when it became clear that Harris would not be making an appearance. | BGNES
