Kamala Harris narrowed the distance with Donald Trump in the results of the presidential elections at 5:00 a.m. GMT, BGNES reported.
The Republican has so far collected 230 electoral votes to 205 for the Democratic representative. 270 electoral votes are needed to win.
The results are close in Arizona, Wisconsin and Michigan, with a slight lead for Trump. Harris expects success in New Hampshire, but it won't be enough. The Republican holds the margin in his favor in Georgia and Pennsylvania, which carry 35 electoral votes.
Trump wins Florida, Texas, Ohio, Indiana, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Louisiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, West Virginia, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, South Dakota, North Dakota, Idaho, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Kamala Harris won in Vermont, Colorado, California, Maryland, Delaware, New York, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Illinois, Washington, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, New Mexico, Oregon, American media predict.
83 million Americans voted in advance and by mail in the historic presidential vote.
Harris entered the race late and dramatically when President Joe Biden dropped out of the July election while Trump survived two assassination attempts.
The result, which can become known overnight or after a few days - will have serious consequences. Harris could become the first woman in the history of perhaps the most powerful post in the world. Power may return to Trump and his "America First" agenda. Both candidates did their best to try to sway undecided voters. The winner will take office in January 2025 for a 4-year term.
Harris watched the vote count from Washington, while Trump watched from his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
The state of democracy and the economy are the two most important issues to Americans, according to a CNN national poll conducted before the polls.
More than a third identify the state of democracy as the main problem, and 3 out of 10 - the economy. Abortion and immigration followed, and less than 5% of people ranked foreign policy as a top issue.
On election day, long queues were formed across the country, and fake bomb threats were reported in many polling stations. Police at the US Capitol, which has been stormed by Trump supporters since his 2020 defeat, have arrested a man who was carrying a flare gun.
Both the FBI and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the bomb threats, while not credible, appear to have originated in Russia. | BGNES
