Hamas to release four more female hostages on January 25

Four Israeli female hostages will be released on Saturday, January 25, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, Hamas official Taher al-Nunu told AFP.

It is the second such release under the ceasefire agreement.

Nunu said the Palestinian Islamist group would release "four Israeli female prisoners in exchange" for a second group of Palestinian prisoners.

Three Israeli women were released on January 19 in exchange for 90 Palestinian prisoners since a ceasefire began in the war between Israel and Hamas.

During the first phase of the ceasefire, a total of 33 hostages are to be returned from Gaza in exchange for some 1,900 Palestinians.

The initial 42-day phase should see an increase in aid as Israeli forces leave some areas of Gaza.

The details of the second phase are still being negotiated through the United States, Egypt and Qatar. | BGNES
