The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will meet with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken as part of a group sent by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League.
The "contact group" mission comprises foreign ministers from Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Palestine, Jordan, Indonesia, and Nigeria.
According to CNN Turk, the conflict in Gaza will be a major topic of conversation for ambassadors and members of the contact group on December 8.
As a prerequisite for any escalation of hostilities, Washington has emphasized the need to avoid civilian losses and secure ongoing humanitarian relief, while Ankara has been a vocal critic of Israel's activities in Gaza for almost two months.
On November 29, the group of foreign ministers was in New York when Fidan addressed the UN Security Council, expressing alarm over the US attitude on the Gaza conflict.
"We're keeping an eye on some 'day-after scenarios' with concern." "These plans provide Israel with more opportunities to drive millions of Gazans from their homes and impose an oppressive regime on them," Fidan said in his most recent scathing remark.
During his UN address, Fidan restated Turkey's offer to serve as a guarantor of a cease-fire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, arguing that this approach would play a critical role in avoiding breaches by either party./BGNES
