Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the second round of the Masters 1000 indoor hard court tournament in the French capital Paris with a prize fund of 7.6 million euros.
The Bulgarian scored his second win in seven days against world number 22 Lorenzo Musetti of Italy. Dimitrov won 6:2, 6:7(4), 6:3 after 2 hours and 20 minutes of play. The week before, Grisho defeated Musetti 6:3, 6:4 at the start of the tournament in Vienna.
In the second round, Dimitrov will play against Daniil Medvedev (Russia), whom he lost to at the same stage of the tournament in Vienna.
Dimitrov won five consecutive games from 1:2 to 6:2 in the first set against Musetti. The Bulgarian achieved a break for 2:1 in the second set, and at 5:3 he dropped a match point on Musetti's serve. Grigor then served to win the match but let himself be broken. There were no new breakthroughs until the end of the set, and so it was a tiebreak. In it, Musetti led with 6:2 points and on his third chance tied the sets.
The Bulgarian started the third part magnificently and led with 3:0. Until the end, Dimitrov served very steadily and closed the match with 6:3. /BGNES
