Grigor Dimitrov took his highest position in the world rankings in 5 years, after climbing to number 14 in the world as of today. Last week, the Bulgarian tennis player had a great performance at the Paris Masters, where he recorded five consecutive victories, including over Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Hubert Hurkach, to reach the final of the tournament.
With the points gained, Grigor returns to the top 15 in the world in the updated ranking, as he now has 2570 points in the 14th position. This is his best ranking since November 2018. Dimitrov will finish the year in the top 15 in the world for the third time in his career after 2014 (number 11) and 2017 (number 3). If the Bulgarian maintains a position in the top 16 until the start of the Australian Open (January 14-28), he will have a more favorable draw for the first three rounds of the competition in Melbourne.
There are several changes in the top 10, with last year's Paris champion Holger Rune dropping three places to 10th. Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz move up one place. Number one Novak Djokovic has a nearly 3,000-point lead at the top spot over chaser Carlos Alcaraz and is on the verge of finishing the year as world No.1 for the eighth time in his career. /BGNES
