Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the 1/8-finals of the French Open tennis championship for the third time in his career, after overcoming, albeit with difficulty, Zizou Bergs from Belgium with 6-3, 7-6 (4), 4- 6, 6-4. The meeting lasted nearly three hours and 40 minutes.
The match between the two was supposed to be played yesterday, but it was postponed for today due to the rain over the French chair with a score of 6-3, 2-1 and service for our first rocket. Dimitrov lost his lead in the second set, but quickly regained it. Bergs saved two set points in the tenth game, and the part was decided in a tiebreak, in which our tennis player showed more healthy nerves, to get closer to the set of the next stage. This seemed to calm the Bulgarian, who lost the third set 4-6. The fourth part went under the dictation of the servers until the tenth game, when the 33-year-old Haskovic used his moment to qualify for the round of 16 in the tournament for the third time after 2020 and 2023.
Dimitrov finished with 37 winners and 42 unprovoked errors, but despite this, he found strength to move forward. Hubert Hurkac is in contention for a place in the quarterfinals. The eighth-seeded Pole also defeated Denis Shapovalov in four sets.
