Grigor Dimitrov played another excellent match and qualified for the final of the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami with a prize pool of $8.995 million.
The Bulgarian defeated No. 5 in the world ranking Alexander Zverev with 2:1 sets (6:4, 6:7(4), 6:4). The match lasted 2 hours and 35 minutes.
With the success Grigor Dimitrov broke his negative streak of seven consecutive losses to Zverev and returned to the top 10 of the world ranking (No. 9).
He had to fend off a break point at 2:2 in the first set against Zverev, but managed to hold on. Dimitrov, on the other hand, got his first break point, which came at the cost of a set point at 5:4 in the first set. Grigor managed to break and won the first set 6:4 in 44 minutes.
Dimitrov was two points away from victory at 5:4 and 30-0 in the second set on Zverev's serve, but failed to break. Thus, without a single break opportunity in the second set, it went to a tiebreak. In it, Zverev won by 7-4 points and leveled the score in the sets.
Grigor Dimitrov reflected a break point at 1:2 in the third set. Grigor took a 40-15 lead at 3:3 and Zverev's serve and he broke from his first opportunity. At 5:4, Dimitrov served to win the match and closed the match in his favour with game zero.
In the final, he will face Jannik Sinner, who decisively defeated reigning champion Daniil Medvedev 6-1, 6-2 in the other semi-final.
This will be the third Masters final of Dimitrov's career. In 2017, he triumphed with the title in Cincinnati, and last year he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final in Paris. /BGNES
