Greek frigate attacks two drones off Yemen

The Greek frigate "Hydra" received its baptism of fire by attacking two drones in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Yemen. This happened within the framework of the European operation "EUNAVFOR ASPIDES" for the protection of international shipping, Kathimerini reported.
According to the information, in the morning hours of March 13, "Hydra" fired its 127 mm cannon against two unmanned aerial vehicles, in accordance with the current rules of engagement. The drones have since moved away.
The mission of the Greek frigate in the Red Sea region began on March 11, when it sailed from the port of Djibouti.
The naval ship is in the Gulf of Aden, where merchant ships are congregating as they prepare to pass through the disputed area, where attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels are taking place.
Once the convoy was formed, the Hydra, along with the German frigate Hessen, provided a very close escort for the merchant ships, then, about 140 nautical miles northwest of the assembly point, "handed over" the convoy to the Italian destroyer Cao Duilio, which takes the next part of the route to the international waters of the Red Sea./BGNES
