Paramount Pictures and The Film and TV Charity, which is headed by the two royals and supports thousands of people working in the UK's entertainment industry, have teamed up to debut the upcoming sequel to director Ridley Scott's 2000 historical epic on November 13th in London.
The 86-year-old director said, "Ever since I made Gladiator, year after year I've asked myself: is there a sequel? After nearly 25 years, we're thrilled to finally answer that question for you and for audiences everywhere."
"The making of 'Gladiator II' confirmed Orson Welles' quote that making movies is the best train wreck a boy can have. It was the greatest train set I ever rode. I think it is only right that the UK premiere of Gladiator II should take place in aid of the Film and TV Charity, which works tirelessly to support the British industry. I think the film will live up to your expectations," he added.
The event will be screened in 30 UK cinemas hosting regional premieres and will include footage from the red carpet.
"We are extremely excited and honoured that Gladiator II will be the 72nd Royal Film Performance. We believe this worthy charity is a fantastic partner for this highly anticipated film and on behalf of Paramount we look forward to welcoming everyone to what we hope will be a most memorable evening," said Paramount Pictures UK Managing Director John Fletcher.
The blockbuster - which stars Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen - tells the story of Lucius Verus, the former heir to the Roman Empire, who is forced into slavery and subsequently into the Colosseum in an attempt to restore the glory of his home. | BGNES
