Gillian Anderson: Sex adapts and changes with age

The 56-year-old X-Files actress has just released her book I Want, which is a compilation of thousands of sexual fantasies that she has asked women to submit to her anonymously online.

She told the Guardian how she loved sex at all stages of her life:

“For me, sex has never been a static entity, but rather something that adapts and changes as I grow and change, with each new phase and stage of my life. “A huge part of it has always been about thinking and feeling, not just making love. As an actor, at the core of my work is the permission to indulge in an alternate reality, which is the very definition of fantasy. The women I embody, whose worlds I enter, also have private lives, desires and fantasies that are vital to understanding what makes them feel.'

Jillian, who stars in the Netflix series Sex Education, adds that her past as a sex symbol now puzzles her.

She thinks it's "ridiculous" that she was voted sexiest woman alive by FHM magazine in 1996.

After Gillian shot to fame playing FBI agent Dana Scully in The X-Files in 1993, she became the subject of interest from men's magazines.

She says that she even became the object of lust: "I felt so ridiculous. If you see my life and where I am half the time, between work and the set, kids and driving, it's crazy to end up alone with a few sexy photos of me". | BGNES
