The second leg of the Euro 2024 group stage will begin on Wednesday with three matches. Croatia take on Albania in a Group B match at 16:00, hosts Germany play Hungary at 19:00 and Scotland take on Switzerland in the late match at 22:00.
The clash between Croatia and Albania will be a game of survival. Both teams lost their opening matches of the championship and another loss could mean the end of hopes of participating in the round of 16. The Croatians, who are a serious force in recent major tournaments, received a resounding slap from Spain - a 0:3 loss. Now, Luka Modric and Co must defend their World Cup 2022 third-ranked reputation against a tough Albania side. The Albanians got off to a flying start against Italy in their first match and took the lead with the fastest goal in European Championship history, but in the end, the reigning European champions won 2-1. The match will be played in Hamburg, and the main referee will be the Frenchman François Letesier.
From 19:00, Germany will try to achieve a second success in front of their home crowd and practically seal their place in the eliminations. Julian Nagelsmann's men are high on confidence after their 5-1 thrashing of Scotland, while the Hungarians lost 3-1 to Switzerland in their opening game and are back to the wall. The chief referee of the match in Stuttgart will be Danny Makelier (Netherlands).
In the late game, Scotland will wash away the shame of the meeting with Germany, but they will have a new tough task - Switzerland is an extremely solid and classy team that defeated Hungary at the start. The Crusaders' attack was led by Ludogorets striker Kwadwo Dua, who scored a debut goal for his country in the victory over the Magyars. Slovak Ivan Kruzhljak will lead the match in Cologne.
