Germany wants further EU sanctions against Iran

Germany's foreign minister has called on the European Union to impose new sanctions against Iran's drone industry, AFP reports.

"At the end of the autumn, together with France and other partners in the European Union, I campaigned for a further extension of this drone sanctions regime... I hope that now we can finally take this step together," Annalena Baerbock told a press conference in Berlin ahead of her visit to Israel later today.

On April 13, Tehran launched a large-scale drone and ballistic missile attack on Israel.

Baerbock intends to assure her Israeli counterparts of Germany's "full solidarity" in the wake of this attack and to discuss "how to avoid further escalation of violence." / BGNES.
