Germany, France and UK impose sanctions on Iran over its aid to Russia

"We will take immediate steps to cancel bilateral air services agreements with Iran," they said, adding that they "will also work to impose sanctions on Iran Air."

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said earlier, during a visit to London, that Russia had received shipments of ballistic missiles and "will likely use them within weeks in Ukraine."

London, Paris and Berlin said "we now have confirmation that Iran has made these transfers".

"This is a further escalation of Iranian military support for Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and will result in Iranian missiles reaching European soil, increasing the suffering of the Ukrainian people. This act is an escalation by both Iran and Russia and poses a direct threat to European security," they said.

The three countries said they would "take immediate steps to cancel bilateral air services agreements with Iran".

"In addition, we will continue to designate significant entities and individuals associated with Iran's ballistic missile programme and the transfer of ballistic missiles and other weapons to Russia.
