George Clooney stars as journalist in Broadway play

"Good Night and Good Luck," the upcoming Broadway play written by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, has released a new trailer starring Clooney as famed journalist Edward R. Clooney. Murrow.

Previews for the play will begin at the Winter Garden Theatre on March 12, 2025, with opening night scheduled for April 3. Clooney will also make his Broadway debut in the play, which is scheduled to run through June 8. No additional casting has yet been announced, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The play is based on the 2005 film written by Clooney and Heslov. It follows Murrow's confrontation with U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy, who insists that Murrow continue to cover McCarthy's anti-communist efforts. David Kromer, who won a Tony Award for directing The Band's Visit, will direct the production.

In the trailer, shot in black and white, Clooney sits at a desk and speaks to the camera as scenes of hectic editing and political unrest alternate.

"There's a certain kind of people, broadcast in a certain way, who know that there's a story behind the story if you're brave enough to seek it out, if you're passionate enough to speak up, if you're brave enough to stand up to the forces determined to silence you, no matter the consequences," Clooney says.

"There is a certain kind of people who are the lifeblood of democracy. They never waver. They never hesitate. They never waver in their pursuit of what is important," he continues. "And what is important? Honesty. The facts. Integrity. Accuracy. The truth." | BGNES
