Atletico Madrid have made another major inbound transfer this summer after signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. The England international captained the Blues last season but has been made redundant at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of new manager Enzo Maresca.
Atletico Madrid will pay around £33m for the centre-half, who has scored caps for England at Euro 2024 this summer. Gallagher signs a five-year contract with the Spanish club. Gallagher, 24, has been part of Chelsea since the age of six, making 90 appearances for the first team, scoring 10 goals.
Earlier in the summer, Atleti signed Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.
Meanwhile, Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is edging closer to a return to Manchester City. Gundogan moved from the "citizens" to the Catalans just a year ago, but he does not feel happy at Barca and wants to return to the "Etihad", where he achieved serious success.
In 7 years at Manchester City, Gundogan played over 300 games in which he scored 60 goals, winning 14 trophies with the club. | BGNES
