Tyson Fury said he was "robbed" after losing by unanimous decision to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch for three of the four heavyweight belts. After defeating "The Gypsy King" by split decision in May to become the first undisputed world heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis, Usyk defended his WBA, WBO and WBC belts in Riyadh, with all three judges scoring the fight 116-112 in favor of the Ukrainian.
Fury, who was unbeaten in 35 professional fights before his bout with Usyk, did not give a ringside interview after the fight, but he was emphatic to reporters afterwards: "I was robbed. I swear to God I won the fight by at least three rounds. I bossed the fight, dominated all night".
At his press conference less than an hour after the fight, the Briton gave a more restrained opinion, but again insisted that the result was unfair. "Frank (ed. - Frank Warren, Fury's promoter) told me that I won by 3-4 rounds, a lot of people said I was by two. That's how it is, there's nothing I can do. I've been in boxing my whole life and you can't change a decision, but I will always feel that it was unfair. When you don't knock someone out, you can't guarantee a win. I think I won both fights. I have no doubt in myself that I won this one. For me Usyk got a Christmas present, but it's not Oleksandr's fault".
The 36-year-old Fury did not want to comment on his future, as it is still unclear what is next for him and whether this is not the end of his career. "I want to go home and have a good Christmas. I worked so hard for this fight. Thank you to everyone who came and supported me. You may see me in the ring again, you may not".
Unbeaten in 23 fights, Usyk hit back at Fury, saying his promoter was "blind" and in the ring after his victory, he said he probably will have a rematch with Daniel Dubois, who holds the IBF belt, for the absolute world title. "I want my revenge. Let's do it," said the Briton, who directly challenged the Ukrainian after the two fought in Wroclaw, Poland. Dubois first has to get past Joseph Parker in February. | BGNES
