Tyson Fury has warned Oleksandr Usyk that while the Ukrainian may have beaten Anthony Joshua twice, he will not be able to do so against an "elite and big boxer" in the heavyweight division. World Boxing Council (WBC) champion Fury faces WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight belt holder Usyk in a clash for the division's undisputed world title on May 18.
Fury paid due respect to his opponent at a press conference in his hometown of Morecambe. "I have nothing personal towards him, just business for the two boxers. The stakes are very high, but I don't hate him. On the contrary, I respect him as a man and as a boxer. Everyone should respect his achievements. He unified the heavyweight belts and is the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world", the Briton began.
But the Gypsy King's confidence is rock-solid about who will win their match on May 18. “I'm just the best. I'm just defending this against him. There is a reason there are categories. When the cruiserweights go up against the big boys, they usually find what they're looking for. You can beat the average big boys, but you can't beat the elite because size really does matter. These are facts".
Fury is determined to make his mark in the history of the sport and be crowned without a doubt the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time next month. "I've been studying this sport all my life. This is my time, my destiny, my era and my generation. Facts", concluded the 35-year-old boxer, who is 34-0-1 (24 KOs), while Usyk is 21-0 (14 KOs). /BGNES
