Franz Wagner Burns Lakers Late, Ends Winning Streak

The Orlando Magic ended the LA Lakers' six-game winning streak with a 119-118 win in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Franz Wagner was the hero for the Magic, who were without Paolo Banchero and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, as he scored 37 points, including 15 in the final quarter and a game-tying three-pointer with two seconds left to play.

The game was a close contest, with the two teams trading the lead 21 times, and the Lakers had a chance to close it out late, but Anthony Davis missed two consecutive fouls, giving Wagner a chance to make the decisive shot from a difficult position. Wagner added 11 assists to his tally, his brother Moritz Wagner scored 19 points off the bench, and Jaylen Slug scored 23 points. For the Lakers, Davis finished with 39 points and 9 rebounds, LeBron James added 31 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists, but only one other player on the team scored double figures.

Thus, the Lakers recorded their first home defeat of the season and occupy 4th place in the Western Conference with 10 wins and 5 losses, while Orlando is in 4th position in the East with a balance of 10/7.
