Four dead after an explosion at an Italian power plant

An explosion at an Italian hydroelectric plant has killed at least four people and left five missing, AFP reported.
Three people were also injured in the accident at the Bargi plant operated by Enel Green Power, located on Lake Suviana, the official from Bologna prefecture in central Italy said.
Pictures from the fire service showed smoke rising from the plant on the waterfront, where firefighters were searching for those missing after the early afternoon blast.
The mayor of the nearby town of Camugnano, Marco Mazinara, called the explosion a "terrible workplace accident" that affected "the whole community".
"It appears that there has been a floor slab collapse and rescue is difficult as a lot of water has entered the interior of the eighth basement floor," he said.
No official cause has yet been determined.
The head of Bologna's fire department, Calogero Turturici, said at least one person was seriously injured.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote on social networks that she was "following with concern the terrible news about the explosion".
The incident prompted a quick and coordinated response, with around 70 firefighters and a contingent of carabinieri mobilized to the scene.
Helicopters are also deployed to provide air support in rescue operations.
Rescue teams are working tirelessly to find and help those affected by the blast, but fears of more casualties are high.
The exact cause of the explosion and the extent of its impact are still under investigation, with authorities working diligently to establish the full extent of the tragedy./BGNES
