This year, Saudi Arabia will participate in the prestigious beauty pageant for the first time.
Despite the large number of restrictions for women in this Islamic country, 27-year-old model Rumi Alqahtani will go to "Miss Universe", writes the newspaper "The Independent".
The girl posted a matching photo with the Saudi Arabian flag and shared her impressions before the trip to Mexico, where the competition will be held.
"It's a great honor for me to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant. This is the first participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in such a competition. I thank from the bottom of my heart all the people who support me. I am happy to be the first representative of my country at such an international pageant level," she wrote on Instagram.
Rumi Alcahtani has a bachelor’s degree in Dentistry. The girl also speaks three languages: English, French and Arabic, and also dabbles in modelling. Before Miss Universe, she already has many titles that she has received in other beauty pageants in her country.
